BOLIVAR, MO -- Nick Smart, a wide receiver for Southwest Baptist University, has broken the all-division record for single-season receptions.

Smart Catches #143
Smart ended the 2007-08 season with 143 receptions, breaking the 1989 record of 142 set by Manny Hazzard of the run-and-shoot Houston Cougars.

Smart entered today's game with 127 receptions, and hauled in his record-breaking 16th ball with three minutes left in the game to beat Hazzard's mark by one.

Smart is a senior from Marionville, MO. He is an accounting and economics / finance major.
