BOLIVAR, MO -- The Southwest Baptist University Women’s soccer team took the field on Saturday afternoon to make statement. They were hosting the Truman State Bulldogs who were one of the popular picks to win the MIAA conference title and were fresh off a win against the defending national champions last weekend. The Lady ‘Cats took the lead early in the first half on a beautiful chip shot from freshman forward Dominie Emmanuel. It was a huge momentum boost for Southwest Baptist and proved to carry them through. In the second half Coach Ben Wade switched from an attacking style to a more defensive formation in order to slow down Truman’s explosive midfield. It worked and the Bearcats walked off the pitch with a huge conference victory as they defeated Truman State 1-0.

“I don’t like to play such a defensive style” said Wade. “but under the circumstances it was important to be able to slow Truman down.” Coach Wade was very pleased with the result as well as how his team is playing. “This was a big weekend for us, we are really playing well now and our defense did great today.” The Lady Bearcats are really rolling and playing at a high level during the most important part of the regular season, conference play. They will look to build on this weekend success next weekend as the will host Missouri Western and Central Missouri State University.
