BOLIVAR, MO -- Friday was the home opener for the Lady Bearcats Soccer team as they fell to Missouri Southern before a crowd of over one hundred soccer fans. SBU experienced a good deal of hard luck in the first half as they had several near chances that just missed scorching the back of the net.  In consecutive attacks Midfielder Atefeh Heivary and Forward Dominie Emmanuel had beautiful shots bounce off the crossbar and miss giving the Bearcats 2 goals.  At the 4 and a half minute mark Southern Midfielder Nikki Llewellyn struck home a goal from 25 yards out on a free kick.  That closed the scoring for the afternoon and gave Southern the victory.  The frustrating day continued for SBU as they fought tooth and nail but came up unlucky on many shots.

This loss drops the Lady ‘Cats to 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in the MIAA.  While this is not the start they are looking for the Lady Bearcats soccer team still have the talent and wherewithal to make this a successful season.  They will continue to press and look for the chemistry that will bring them the wins and type of season that they want.
