Southwest Baptist junior Garrett Smith, from Clinton, Mo., was named MIAA Golf Athlete of the Week forhis team-leading efforts in two 18-hole meets hosted by Concordia-St. Paul April 16-17 in Lake City, Minnesota.

In the Concordia Spring Invitational, held April 16, Smith finished in a tie for fifth in the individual player standings with a three-over par 74. SBU tied for third with a four-man team score of 301, just two shots off the winning pace of Bemidji State (299) and Minnesota-Crookston (299).

Playing in the Golden Bear Spring Invitational the next day, Smith carded an eight-over 79 en route to a 12th place finish. SBU placed sixth in the meet with a four-man 331 score.
