WARRENSBURG, MO -- The Bearcats lost to the #7 UCM Mules tonight, 59-69.
Tonight's glaring stat came in the form of team rebounds. SBU grabbed 28 rebounds to UCM's 48. SBU only had 2 offensive rebounds, none in the 1st half.
The Bearcats made a couple of runs in the 2nd half, getting within 3 early. But SBU scored only 24 points in the final 20 minutes.
Coach Guiot talked about his team's rebounding after the game.
"We've said before the season that rebounding would be the key for us. It's been our 'Achilles Heel' all year. We'll need to improve that area very soon. We feel like we played with a nationally-ranked team all night. We just didn't have a few key shots fall for us down the stretch."

Coach Guiot's thoughts turned toward the trip to Kansas City.
"We're trying to get better. We're trying to get better in time for Kansas City. We feel like we can beat anyone in the league. We just have to keep playing. It was a tough loss tonight, but we'll try and learn from it and get better. It's important that we keep our heads up."
Jim Grabowski led SBU scoring with 14.
SBU shot 43.4% for the game to UCM's 33.3%. UCM had a huge advantage in free throws, making 19 of 24 to SBU's 7-11.
SBU's next game is Saturday night, hosting Emporia State. Tip is scheduled for 7:30.
