Art Department: Scholarship Eligibility
& Application Requirements
All applications for scholarships administered through the Art Department require a portfolio review for consideration. Scholarship renewal is not automatic. Current scholarship recipients must reapply and resubmit their portfolios for review each December, in order to be considered for scholarship renewal for the next academic year, beginning the next August. High School Seniors and Transfer Students must also submit portfolios by December. They too, must have been accepted for admission to Southwest Baptist University, scored 21 or higher on the American College Test (ACT), and have a declared Art Major. High School Seniors are also required to provide a letter of recommendation from their high school art teacher.
The following factors are considered in determining awards:
- Portfolio (aesthetic quality, craftsmanship, presentation);
- Previous art background;
- Estimated potential for further development in art;
- Need; and
- Academic record (including high school record and American College Test (ACT) scores for Transfer Students and High School Seniors).
