Robotics Guidelines
The 2008 ACSI/SBU College Preparatory Championships will feature a robotics competition for up to ten schools. Robots will be loaned to participating schools by the SBU Department of Computer and Information Sciences from September 20th until the day of the competition (November 21). Rules for the competition are shown below:
- Each school is allowed to enter a team of up to three students in the robotics competition. Only one team per school is allowed. Each team must have a faculty or staff sponsor and each student on the team must register for the ACSI/SBU College Preparatory Championships.
- To receive a loaner robot, each school's team and sponsor must attend a mandatory day-long (9:30AM-2:30PM) workshop on the campus of SBU on Saturday, September 20th. At the workshop, students and sponsors will be shown how to use and program their robot by SBU CIS Department faculty and SBU student volunteers. SBU CIS Department faculty and students will continue to meet with the robotics teams virtually on a regular basis to help the teams learn how to use the robot.
- The primary basis of the competition will be the robot's ability to navigate a maze.
