William Brown

 

williambrownDr. William Brown is the 2003 Parkway Distinguished Professor. Dr. Brown became a faculty member at Southwest Baptist University in 1980. He received his bachelor's degree and performer's certificate from Baylor University and his master's and doctorate degrees from Indiana University. He is a dedicated and caring teacher, gifted musician, and professional leader with both the students and faculty. He demonstrates diligence and excellence in all his responsibilities.

Dr. Brown is a frequent recitalist and chamber musician who has toured England and Belarus as accompanist for the Missouri Festival Singers and the Missouri Music video Men. He has served as keyboardist for Chicago's Grant Park Orchestra and Arie Crown Theatre. Recent concerto performances have been with the Springfield Chamber Orchestra, Northwest Florida Symphony, and the Ozarks Festival Orchestra. He has won awards with the South Arkansas Symphony, the Evansville (Indiana) Symphony Orchestra, the American College of Musicians' Recording Competition, and the International Bach Competition. In August 2001, he accompanied a recital in the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria, as part of the Classical Music Festival.

Dr. Brown and his wife, Kathy, are active members of First Baptist Church in Bolivar. They have two grown children.
