Troy Bethards

 

Troy Bethards, 2008 Orien B. Hendrex Distinguished TeacherTroy Bethards joined the SBU faculty in 1996 as an adjunct professor. In 2000, he became a full-time instructor of business administration for the SBU Springfield Center. He was promoted to assistant professor of business administration in 2003 and began teaching classes on the SBU Bolivar campus in the College of Business and Computer Science (COBACS).

Mr. Bethards earned his Bachelor of Science in business from Southwest Baptist University in 1993 and a Masters of Business Administration from Missouri State University in 1996. Currently, he is completing his dissertation for the Doctor of Business Adminisration with a concentration in Finance, from Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana.

Colleagues and students describe Mr. Bethards as a gifted teacher and dedicated to ensuring students understand the subject matter. He received the COBACS Psalm 15 Faculty Award in 2004 for his servant attitude and for exemplifying the character of Psalm 15.

In addition, Troy has been instrumental in the efforts of the College to integrate faith and discipline and founded and organizes the semi-annual Prayer Commissioning Service for COBACS. In addition, he is the Sam M. Walton Fellow for SBU's Students in Free Enterprise program.

Troy and his wife, Monica, a '96 SBU graduate have two children, Alyssa and Mason. His family attends Wellspring Baptist Fellowship where he serves on the administrative committee.
