Suggested Four-Year Plans for Accounting Majors

Public accounting firms appear to be most interested in students being ready to sit for the CPA exam prior to starting their job. Once students start to work in the Auditing Department of a CPA firm, they rarely have the opportunity to take time off for additional college course work. That means students should have the 150 hours completed or virtually complete upon graduation. So, unless a student really wants a Master's degree (which the CPA firms don't particularly insist on), students should work as quickly as possible toward accumulating the 150 hours.
