Special notes:
- If you bring in dual enrollment hours from high school, the Jan-term classes can probably be moved into regular semesters. Some gen ed classes are available in summer or by correspondence.
- If you would rather add a concentration in Management or Marketing (as opposed to Econ/Finance), there are 6-7 additional classes as well -- they will all work -- PLUS, these additional concentrations broaden understanding of business even more, something very important for a CPA who is likely to be advising businesses large and small about business strategies.
- Currently, under Missouri law, you can begin taking the CPA exam late in your last semester as long as you will meet the 150-hour requirement within 60 days of taking the exam. For example, you could take two parts of the exam before you graduate in May - take one in late April and one in late May. Then you could take the other two parts in July and August. The exam is a "major comprehensive review" of your college accounting and business courses. You should consider taking it as soon as possible after school while you are in a "study" mode and the information is more familiar.
- CPA firms are interested in you being ready for the exam - they do not demand or necessarily even desire a Master's degree. They want quality students who are ready for the exam.
- If you are an athlete or music performer, you can also get credit hours for your participation in representing SBU.
