Dr. Kevin SchriverDr. Kevin Schriver is the 2004 recipient of the Orien B. Hendrex Distinguished Teacher Award.  This award is presented annually to a faculty member who has been judged by the previous three years' and current year's graduating classes to be outstanding in teaching ability and personal guidance. The Board of Trustees at Southwest Baptist University has designated this award in memory of former academic dean, Orien B. Hendrex.

Dr. Kevin Schriver joined the Southwest Baptist University faculty in 1989.  Since 1998, he has been department chair of the department of behavioral sciences.  He currently holds the rank of associate professor of psychology.

As a faculty member at SBU, Dr. Schriver is active in faculty committee work and was a member of Faculty Senate from 1997-1999.  In addition, last year he chaired the general education committee.  Currently he serves as faculty athletics representative, chairs the athletic advisory committee and acts as liaison to Focus on the Family Institute.  Also, he serves as institutional representative to both the NCAA and MIAA.  Dr. Schriver has presented many scholarly papers, has been published and is a sought after speaker and presenter at area elementary schools.

In 1983, Dr. Schriver graduated from Southwest Baptist University with a degree in psychology and religious studies.  He completed a master's degree in clinical psychology at Central Missouri State University in 1985 and a doctor of psychology degree with a specialty in clinical psychology at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 1997.

Dr. Schriver and his wife, Denise, who is a 1982 graduate of SBU, reside in Springfield and are members of Second Baptist Church.  They have been married for 18 years and have two daughters, Mackenzie and Lauren, and a son, Alex.
