Brent Good, Director of Athletics
Brent Good was named athletic director in April 2005. Prior to being named athletic director, he served as assistant athletic director and, beginning with the 2004-05 academic year, as associate athletic director.
In his first three years at SBU, Good has added in-depth knowledge to grow the athletic department. He has improved athletics marketing and promotions. He also has improved the working relationship with local businesses and produced many corporate sponsorships for SBU. He is the University's representative to the Bolivar Chamber of Commerce.
Good came to SBU in 2002 from Arkansas Tech, where he was the assistant athletic director for internal affairs. He has coached at Bethany College, Wingate University, James Madison University, and Arkansas Tech.
Good graduated from James Madison University in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education. In 1978, he obtained his master's degree from his alma mater in education. He was a two-sport athlete at James Madison in football and track. In 1975, he was an NCAA national qualifier for the outdoor national championships in the 880 and then, as a senior, he helped JMU to a VCAA (Virginia Collegiate Athletic Association) title in football with a 9-0-1 record.
He has been married to his wife, Pat, for 26 years, and they have one daughter, Kelley. Pat is a teacher in the Fair Play and Humansville school districts and Kelley attends Bolivar High School.
