SBU Profile
SBU is a four-year liberal arts university that was established in 1878. The main campus is located about 30 minutes north of Springfield, Missouri. in Bolivar, a town of approximately 9,200 people.
The University includes the following:
- College of Business and Computer Science
- The Courts Redford College of Theology and Ministry
- Lewis E. Schollian College of Education and Social Sciences
- Geneva Casebolt College of Music, Arts and Letters
- College of Sciences and Mathematics
- St. John's College of Nursing and Health Sciences
These academic divisions offer 12 degrees in 43 academic areas of study, including four graduate degrees. Academic accreditation is by The Higher Learning Commission, (312) 263-0456 and a member of the North Central Association.
Enrollment
About 3,600 students, including approximately 817 graduate students, attend classes at Southwest Baptist on its four campuses. Degree granting sites include Bolivar, Mountain View, Salem and Springfield. Students are served by more than 400 faculty and staff members on all four campuses. More than 70 percent of full-time faculty holds terminal degrees in their fields. The ratio of student/faculty is 17:1.
More than 1,570 undergraduate students attend classes at the Bolivar campus with approximately 1,000 undergraduate students taking classes at the off-campus sites.

Southwest Baptist welcomes applications from any prospective student who qualifies to the standards set forth by the administration. The admission policy is based on transcripts and ACT/SAT scores.
More than $8,000,000 is available to qualified students each year for financial aid.
SBU Life
Several academic and extracurricular student organizations help to enhance SBU student life. Examples of these organizations are PBL, SGA, FCA, SIFE, SBU Chorale, Alpha Chi, MENC and Debate.
Opportunities for one or more semesters of study in England, Hong Kong, Ireland, Korea or Spain, as well as all CCCU related programs are available to all students who attend SBU. This is a great way to extend horizons and build upon the educational experience.
The SBU Bearcats are a member of NCAA Division II and the MIAA Conference. SBU offers 16 sports including baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, football, men's golf, women's soccer, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field and volleyball.
Several intramural sports are also offered for students across campus throughout the year.
