Volleyball Signs Four

BOLIVAR, MO – SBU’s Head Volleyball Coach, Kelly Richardson, has announced that four players have signed with SBU for the Fall '07 season.

Coach Richardson is enthusiastic about the 2007 season. ***image1:right***

"We have a great group of girls joining our '07 roster. Coach (Megan) Remley and I are anxious to get everyone on campus and start building our program."

Iceley Perry is a defensive specialist from Fair Grove, MO. She comes to SBU after playing varsity volleyball for all 4 four of her high school years under Coach Tonya Cox. Iceley has played club volleyball for Springfield Juniors all 4 years of high school. She will join sister Shyrah Perry at SBU, who is currently a sophomore on the volleyball team.

Coach Richardson states: "Iceley is great volleyball player with a lot of energy. She is a hard worker, and always has a great attitude. We are very excited to have Iceley join our 2007 volleyball team. She will bring a lot of discipline and encouragement to the floor."

***image7:left***Caitlin Blakey is also a defensive specialist from Ozark, MO. Caitlin comes to SBU after playing under Coach Becky Justist at Ozark High School. She played as a defensive specialist and outside hitter for Ozark. She has played club ball for Springfield Juniors all 4 years of high school.

Coach Richardson states: "Caitlin has continued to progress in becoming a more well rounded player. She has worked hard at improving her defense, and is always striving to get better. She has a great attitude, and is a very ‘coachable’ player. Caitlin will bring a lot of depth to our 2007 season, and we are very excited that she has decided to come be a part of SBU volleyball."

***image4:right***Katie Hyneman is a setter from Gladstone, MO. Katie comes to SBU after playing at Oak Park High School under Coach Ken Corum. She played in the setter position for 2 years on Oak Park's varsity team. Katie was the suburban Big 7 Assist leader for 2006. She has played club ball for North Stars out of Kansas City for the past 2 years.

Coach Richardson, on Katie Hyneman: "Katie is not only a great setter, but is also a very good defensive player. She will bring a lot of experience and depth to the setting position. She has a very good work ethic, and will help encourage those around her to have the same. We look forward to having Katie's enthusiasm and stability in our volleyball program."

***image2:left***Marcy Greenwade is a defensive specialist from Willard, MO. Marcy comes to SBU after playing two years at the varsity level for Mountain Grove High School, and finishing her high school career with two years at the varsity level for Willard High School. Marcy was 1st Team All Conference and District, and 2nd Team All Region her senior year at Willard.

Coach Richardson comments: “Marcy will bring a lot of hard work and dedication to our team. She is always striving to make her game better, and will push those around her to do the same. Marcy has a great attitude, and will bring a lot of energy to our team. We’re very excited to have her join our ’07 Lady Bearcat Team.”
