SBU's Mathematics Faculty Presents at National Conference

BOLIVAR, MO – Southwest Baptist University Professor of Mathematics Bob Glasgow presented at the Annual Meeting of National Council of Teachers of Mathematics in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 11.

 

Glasgow presentation was titled “Interested in a Doctorate in Mathematics Education? An Acute Shortage and Job Opportunities Abound.”

 

Glasgow presented with Dr. Robert Reys, Dawn Teuscher, and Nevels Nevels from the University of Missouri. Dr. Glasgow said many of the results reported in the session can be found in two papers authored by the four presenters and will appear in a book awaiting publication by the Conference Board of Mathematical Sciences.

 

The majority of people who attended Glasgow’s presentation are considering pursuing a doctorate in mathematics education.  The annual meeting of NCTM was attended by more than 10,000 mathematics teachers from across the United States.
