Physical Therapy Department : A Healing Mission.

Applications are reviewed monthly beginning in September for the 33-month program, which starts the following August. Admission requirements and detailed program information are included on our site, which will answer many of your questions. However, we encourage you to contact the department about any questions or to determine course equivalencies for prerequisites.

Coursework enables you to build critical and analytical thinking skills, it encourages independent thought, develops effective communication skills and promotes professional behaviors and an appreciation for the values of physical therapy in the health care environment.

SBU's fully accredited  DPT program is distinctive for its Christian perspective,  caring faculty and staff, and outstanding student body. The SBU's  DPT program is designed as an entry-level doctoral degree program. A new class of  students begins the program every August. The DPT program includes 33 months of combined course work and clinical experience. Students participate in a wide variety of learning opportunities that combine lectures, hands-on laboratory experiences, mission opportunities, optional elective courses, and clinical time.
