Current Research/Professional Activities: As a performer, Dr. Knupps has won numerous regional and state awards in competitions sponsored by groups including the Music Teachers’ National Association and the International Tuba and Euphonium Association. She is also active as a guest recitalist throughout the Mid-West and the South. Furthermore, she was a founding member of the Fountain City Brass Band in Kansas City, MO in 2002. As a musicologist, Dr. Knupps has completed and presented research on the British and American brass band traditions. She plans to continue her research and seek publication and presentation opportunities.

Why do you enjoy teaching at SBU? "Because. . . of the family atmosphere among the faculty and students within a Christian environment. I believe SBU offers many of the opportunities of a larger school within a more close-knit, caring community. "

Educational and Professional Background: A native of Magnolia, Arkansas, Dr. Knupps earned a D.M.A. in Euphonium Performance and a M.M. in Music History and Literature from the University of Missouri-Kansas. She also holds a M.M. in Euphonium Performance from Northwestern State University of Louisiana and a B.M.E. in Instrumental Music from Ouachita Baptist University.
