Course taught: Chorale and Chamber Singers; choral conducting; Music Methods and Materials for Teaching Middle and Secondary Schools; Choral Techniques; Music Industry I and II; applied piano and conducting; student teacher observations.

Why do you enjoy teaching at SBU? "The music Department strives for excellence both in its students and faculty.  Whether it is in performing or the classroom; we do not accept mediocrity and I believe that is a central part of the Christian life."

Educational and Professional Background: Tarrant earned a Bachelor of Arts at Cumberland College, a Master of Music at Eastern Kentucky University, and a Doctor of Musical Art at the University of Memphis.

Tarrant is active in the Missouri Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association.  Locally, he conducts the Bolivar Community Chorus and regularly leads international performance tours for choral ensembles.

Faith dedications: Tarrant is a member of First Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri.  He regularly substitutes as organist and music director in area churches.
