Courses taught: SBU Concert Choir, Applied Voice, Applied Conducting, Sightsinging and Eartraining, Basic Conducting, and Secondary Choral Repertoire.
Why do you enjoy teaching at SBU? Being a graduate of SBU, I feel blessed to back teaching and training our world’s future leaders. Our students leave SBU prepared to serve as leaders in the areas of performance, church music, and music education. It is also great to teach with colleagues that are truly supportive of each other in their academic pursuits.
Educational Background: Dr. Campbell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music with a concentration in Music Business from SBU in 1999. He received his Master of Music degree with a concentration in Choral Conducting from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2002 and completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree with a concentration in Choral Conducting from SWBTS in 2007. He also continues post graduate study in the area of Vocal Pedagogy.
Professional Activities: Dr. Campbell remains an active tenor soloist and guest choral clinician/conductor. He directs the orchestra for the SBU musical and opera productions. In addition to his responsibilities at SBU, Campbell is the conductor of the Bolivar Community Chorus. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda.
