Virus Cleanup

Please follow the steps below for virus cleanup.

  1. If you are using Windows XP SP2*, enable the firewall on all network connections.

    * If you do not have SP2 loaded on XP, you will not have the firewall capability.  Load SP2 from the Windows Update Site. Plan ahead this download takes along time.

  1. Download the following fix tools and the Stinger tool to your desktop.
  2. Disconnect your computer from the network outlet.
  3. Run the fix tools one at a time.

    Donk Fix Tool

    Gaobot Fix Tool

    GaobotUJ Fix Tool

    Qhost Fix Tool

    Mydoom Fix Tool

    Bropia Fix Tool

    Kelvir Fix Tool

    Esbot Fix Tool

    Zotob Fix Tool

  1. Finish by running the Stinger tool.
  2. You can now reboot and reconnect your computer to the network outlet
  3. Once you have rebooted, go to the Windows Update Site and download any critical system updates.
  4. If you have an AntiVirus program keep it updated at all times.
  5. If you do not have an AntiVirus program, please purchase and install one.  If you can not afford to purchase an AntiVirus program, a list of Free AntiVirus program links are listed below.
