The past month has flown by and here it is
time for another update email. Once again the Father is proving that
He does mighty things through simple obedience.
October 7, 2005 -
We survived living on the mountain and
came out to tell you about it. The past month, I feel that the Father
has blessed me with the opportunity to serve Him at the forefront of
the battle for souls.

morning in Higaonon We survived our first week in the
tribe! I don't believe we would have left if we had taken
enough food with us because we were just beginning to meet
all the people and build relationships;

Dear Brothers and Sisters.
We have had a restful last couple of days and are now ready to head to Lawan-Lawan and Buk-Bukon. Jess is up in the village today making last minute preparations. We will leave tommorrow by truck and spend the night in Lawan-Lawan.

Hello friends and family.
It must seem like a very long time since my last email. Many great things have happened since then and I am looking forward to sharing them in this email. It sounds as though the drought in Missouri is over, and maybe you are enjoying some cooler weather.

July 19, 2005 -
We had a wonderful
weekend. I look forward to the weekends with great anticipation
because there are always great and mighty things that we are able to go
to exciting places and spend lots of time with our friends.
July 15, 2005 -
It has been a great week of learning language and studying culture. Several of our assignments this week required us to talk with Filipinos about the norms of family life and the common ways in which they complement one another.
July 11, 2005 -
I really enjoy when I am able to learn a song, dance, or game that is well known among all the natives. This week a teacher named Laurdes, from Manila taught me a love song. She recorded it for me and then we sang it together.
July 10, 2005 -
This morning we walked to the Jeepnie with our neighbors, Lola Karin and her cousin C.B. (I believe those are her initials). They were also on their way to church. We had a delightful talk about their church and how it is growing and overflowing.
July 9, 2005 -
Today blessed my heart, filling me with overwhelming gladness. Sometimes I ask the Lord whom He sent to be the m because I have been dramatically touched by the kindness of others.
July 7, 2005 -
Last night as I sat on a plastic footstool in the center of a room filled with mourners, Father impressed upon my heart the need for His light in the Philippines.

We are in our third week of language study. Things have become very exciting here as we make new friends.
July 5, 2005 -
Last night was an absolute joy! We had about 30 of our new friends over to the school for dinner. Mimi taught us how to make two famous Filipino dishes: Adobo and Pancit.

Brothers and sisters: I am having a wonderful time here. Not only are we in intense language learning but also intense culture learning.
June 25, 2005 -
Friday was St. John the Baptist Day and it is celebrated all over the Philippines. In celebration of this holiday, I was truly immersed in the culture.

I am really enjoying my time in Butuan, a northern city on the Island of Mindanao in the Philippines.
