Paramedic-ASN Bridge

The Paramedic to RN program transitions currently certified paramedics into the ASN program at the 3rd semester level. Course contact time is approximately 14 days but is distributed throughout the summer term. Content builds upon previously learned concepts and introduces the paramedic to nursing concepts and skills. Emphasis is placed upon chronic disease nursing interventions with clinical experience at Mercy Hospital-Springfield. Students are encouraged to complete general education and science credits at SBU or any accredited college or university.

Success in the course offered during the summer term allows immediate entry into 3rd semester of the ASN program. Upon successful completion of the 4th semester of the ASN program, the Bridge Paramedic student is eligible to take the NCLEX, the entry into professional nursing exam.
