Associate of Science in Radiology
Joan Hedrick, M.Ed., R.T.(R)(M)
Greetings from the School of Radiologic Technology, a department of Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences. I am pleased that you are interested in the program.
I am so lucky because I have always loved the profession of Radiologic-Technology. Radiologic Technology has changed dramatically since it's birth in 1895 when Willhelm Conrad Roentgen first discovered x-rays. The last few years have been especially exciting as radiology has evolved into multiple diagnostic and therapeutic modalities and has transitioned into digital (computerized) systems. Radiologic Technology has never been more interesting and challenging.
I am fortunate to be part of the positive changes and transition in the education of future technologists. Mercy Hospital (formerly St. John's) has offered a radiography program for over 50 years. Beginning in 2013 the radiography program will be offered through SBU in Springfield, MO as an Associate's degree program in joint sponsorship with Mercy Hospital Springfield.
As you go through the information on this website, please contact us with any questions. We will be very happy to talk to you about your goals and the profession of Radiologic Technology.
