Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrophotometer
The department of chemistry owns a Shimadzu UV-1601 Recording Spectrophotometer. This is an ultraviolet-visible, double-beam spectrophotometer with a measurement range of 190 to 1100 nanometers. The instrument has a 2 nanometer bandwidth and is capable of operating in a number of measurement modes including photometric mode, spectrum scanning and kinetic mode. This instrument is fully automated, with internal self-calibration of both wavelength and background correction. The ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer is used by students in organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, undergraduate research and independent study.
