The department of History and Political Science prepares students in the broadly defined academic disciplines of history and politics, with special regard to the dynamics of the cultural heritage of both of this nation and the world, from a worldview integrating both the Christian faith and Biblical values.

Education and professional background: Neal received a B.S. in Politics with a minor in Ancient History from the University of Wyoming, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Prior to coming to SBU, Neal has worked as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wyoming, Catholic University, Montgomery College, and Patrick Henry College. Neal joined the SBU faculty in August 2013 and teaches courses in American government, pre-law, and political theory.
Family: Neal lives in Bolivar with his wife who has worked as a law clerk and trial attorney for the Justice Department.
