Church Relations
One of the programs under the direction of Dr. Brad Johnson, Vice President for University Relations, pertains to SBU’s relationships with churches. Since 1878, SBU has maintained key relationships with area churches. Today, churches in Missouri as well as in neighboring states are encouraging their young people to attend SBU. The University would not exist without these vital relationships.
Students on Missions
- T.E.A.M. represents Theatrical Evangelism and Missions, a student-led drama troupe.
- DISCIPLENOW is a weekend discipleship ministry for youth. Our DiscipleNow ministry can provide the local church with a team of trained college students for a weekend of intense discipleship and activities geared for young people. The DiscipleNow weekend takes place in church members' homes.

Students on Tour and Other Music Resources
- The Department of Music serves area churches by providing training for future full and part-time music ministers through the curriculum which leads to the Bachelor of Music in Church Music. The coordinator of church music assists local churches by placing graduates and current students into full and part-time music ministry positions in local churches.
- Choral and instrumental ensembles regularly schedule tours to churches to provide music in worship, concert settings, and at other speci al events such as DiscipleNow.
- The annual Church Music Workshop in early February provides training and assistance to full and part-time music ministers and keyboard musicians from across the state of Missouri.
