Does the Math Department Involve Students?

• January, 2004.  The Department plans to host a math contest (5th annual).   Students will be VERY involved in helping to run this.
  
• September 13, 2003.  Math Game Day at Dr. Hopkins' house.
• May 1, 2003.  Math Game Day at Dr. Hopkins' house.
• April 4-5, 2003.  Students and Faculty attend Math Preservice Teacher Leadership conference at SMSU
  
• March 6, 2003.  Grad school representatives from Southwest Missouri State University and Central Missouri State University visit campus.
• January 18, 2002.  The Department hosted a math contest (its fourth in recent years).  Students will be VERY involved in helping to run this.
• Students are often invited to attend conferences with the faculty as they attend.  You can see Dr. Hopkins' resume to see that he speaks annually at 2-3 conferences.
• Every year or so we try to host a graduate school representative or prospective employer.
• Every couple of years we try to host a departmental picnic (cookout or ice cream social) for students.
